Skiing at the end of the season

What's spring skiing?

Not surprisingly, spring skiing refers to skiing at the end of the season, i.e. between March and April. At this time of year, far fewer skiers take advantage of their free time to come and hit the slopes in the Portes du Soleil ski area. However, snow conditions remain good in the mountains and Les Gets ski resort is open. Whether you're with your family, friends or on your own, you can continue to ski in Les Gets until 12 April 2026.

What are the advantages of spring skiing in Les Gets?

An ideal end to the season in Les Gets
In winter, during the high season, the powder is deep and the snow is cold and regular in the mountains. This means that downhill skiers and snowboarders, as well as off-piste and freestyle enthusiasts, can enjoy excellent snow conditions and indulge in their favourite winter sport during their holidays. On the other hand, ski passes are more expensive, the days are shorter and the cold is more intense.

In fact, there are several reasons why you should opt for spring skiing. Firstly, the Portes du Soleil ski area lives up to its name at this time of year, with more sunshine and milder temperatures. What's more, the Les Gets ski resort is less busy, so you can enjoy a smoother, more relaxed sequence of runs. Spring is also more accessible, whether you're looking for accommodation or a ski pass. At the end of the season, we'll indeed be offering a range of ski passes for a session on the slopes at a very attractive price!

F.A.Q. Spring skiing in Les Gets

Is it possible to ski in Les Gets in April?
Located at an altitude of 1,172 metres, Les Gets ski resort in the Portes du Soleil cannot open until the end of April, as the snow gradually retreats over the course of the month in the mountains. However, you can still enjoy the resort's slopes in March and until 12 April (unless otherwise stated).
What to wear for spring skiing in Les Gets
When it comes to spring skiing, there's no need to layer up, as the temperature in Les Gets can approach 6°C in March and 10°C in April. In sunny weather, you may even only need a fleece and waterproof ski trousers. But don't forget to bring breathable technical underwear and a light waterproof jacket, as the weather in the mountains is unpredictable at this time of year.
What is spring snow?
Spring snow is the kind you find in the mountains at the end of March and beginning of April. It is characterised by a hard, icy texture early in the morning. It then softens on the surface mid-morning, usually under the effect of the sun. This snow then becomes supple and stable: an ideal texture for beginners. In the afternoon, the snow is heavier, but still perfectly skiable.
